In her Report Jennifer Vyse the Planning Inspector recommended approval but... THE SECRETARY OF STATE, THE RT HON JAMES BROKENSHIRE MP, HAS REFUSED!

Link to follow, when the formal notice appears on the MHCLG web site...

Meanwhile, MANY THANKS to everyone who has contributed to the last 10 years of opposition to Veolia's proposal for Hatfield, then this one for Hoddesdon:

  • the local campaign groups who with their communities did an outstanding job of defending their towns and environs;
  • the United Kingdom Without Incineration Network (UKWIN), especially Shlomo and Josh Dowen;
  • our other technical advisers at Eunomia;
  • Gascoyne Estates in the hatfield campaign;
  • the borough/district and parish councils, via their councillors and officers,.
  • the respective Members of Parliament;
  • our colleagues, especially our late friend Mick Bee and Valerie Dorantt;
  • supporters who provided timely signatures, crowd funding and encouragement;
  • and everyone else who has taken part in this long and costly struggle.

Now it's time for Herts County Council to come up with a solution towards the top of the Waste Hierarchy; and along with the district & borough councils, to invest in the Herts. Waste Partnership fully to implement it!

Veolia's right to challenge the decision must be done by making an application to the High Court within 6 weeks from the day after the date of this letter"; i.e. by our reckoning, by Saturday 24th August 2019.
