Herts. CC are running a consultation on a proposal to redevelop and expand the centre to replace the inadequate facilities dating from the 1970s. This is part of a programme to enhance the HWRC network across the county. proposal, form (by today):
"A split-level HWRC for deposit of wastes for re- use, recycling, recovery/disposal together with a Re-Use Centre, weighbridge, site offices and staff welfare facilities. The facility would be designed with capacity to receive up to 300,000 visitors and around 10,000 tonnes of waste per annum."
